KDSL is a global educational consulting company launched by Kevin Simpson in 2007 in the USA. The company partners with organizations worldwide to increase student achievement, teacher knowledge, and education leadership through strategic, sustainable and collaborative partnerships. Mr. Simpson has served 500+ schools and thousands of educators worldwide in 20 countries. The majority of his work in education has centered on American curriculum schools. Since 2008, he has been focused on education in the MENA region, assisted numerous schools with accreditation, training, and development and served as a thought partner on school start-up projects. Mr. Simpson is co-founder of the UAE Learning Network (one of the largest online network of educators in the UAE) and has participated in numerous education panels and radio shows where American curriculum was the topic. In addition, he has authored two white papers on American curriculum schools in Dubai and co-wrote a bilingual document on American Education in the UAE. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and a Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Michigan State University (USA). Currently, he is a member of the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) and studying in their Institute for International School Leadership.
Dr. Sudha Govindswamy (Sunder), an affiliate consultant for the Council of International Schools (CIS), specializes in Curriculum Design and Delivery. As a certified concept-based curriculum consultant from Dr. Lynn Erickson Institute, Whitefish, Montana, Dr. Sunder works in supporting schools unpack both the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), focusing on the conceptual shift classroom teachers need to understand, while implementing the standards with intellectual rigor and integrity. Dr. Sunder has been engaged in work with the Kevin Simpson in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. In addition, she has worked in seven other countries. Commissioned by the International Baccalaureate (IB) and in collaboration with Achieve, Dr. Sunder is currently writing a part of the Relationship Study Report between the NGSS and the IB, focusing on the Assessments, Engineering Design, and Professional Development sections of the report. She serves as a curriculum reviewer for the IB, is an Apple Distinguished Educator and is a SMART Exemplary Educator. Sudha earned her PG in the United Kingdom, her Master’s degree in India and her doctorate in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Mary S. Thormann has over 30 years of experience as an educator, teacher trainer, university professor and administrator, and education consultant. She has designed, developed, and directed new programs from early childhood to higher education. In addition to her work in the U.S., she has provided technical assistance as a specialist in areas such as basic education, curriculum, assessment, program evaluation, and professional development in India, Thailand, Burma (Myanmar), Ghana, Bangladesh, Nepal, Kazakhstan, China, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Nigeria. Clients include USAID, the ADB, UNESCO, UNDP, JICA, the World Bank, the U.S. Department of Education, especially the National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), international schools, and the private sector.
Dr. Johnnie Gordon has 32 years of experience as an educator, administrator, assistant superintendent, university professor, teacher trainer, and education consultant. She has provided leadership for a wide array of curriculum areas at all levels of education and designed, implemented, and assessed a plethora of education programs. Gordon has worked in Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C. She currently serves as an adjunct professor and education consultant in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Alister J. Aranha resides and works in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. His education includes two Bachelors Degrees from Michigan State University as well as an MBA from University of Massachusetts in Boston. In review of Alister's current role as Commercial Manager for a group of companies here in Dubai, his duties include public relations and commercial control, operating P&L responsibilities as well as managing an asset base of approximately 25 million dollars. In addition to his current experiences, Alister has managed and grown in leadership competence within a variety of industries abroad and in Dubai including higher education, non-profit health, and media as well as the airline and construction industries. The intricacies of Alister's overall work experience and education have covered a variety of areas such as project management, financial management, brand/market development, advertising and public relations, general management, legal, strategic business development as well as the growth of human capital.
In his role prior to the current in Commercial Management & Business Development, Alister was appointed to a leadership position in the power generation sector and reported to the Managing Director of Cummins for the EMEA region. This work was a two-fold scope that revolved around project management as well as business development encompassing areas within strategy, corporate communication and unit leadership.
